Pink Dream

This I believe is one of my favourite photoshoots I've done.  I just love the complimentary colours of the dress with the cherry blossoms in the background.

This was the first time I got to wear this vintage dress.  I bought it back in October when I went thrifting with my cousins from Maine when they came to town.  It looks just so lovely with the tree in the background.  I adore flowering trees, especially cherry blossoms.

I remember the day I wore this dress.  It was a Thursday because I went to the library in the evening to help out with the Jane Austen event.  They needed an extra body to help them practice the Austen period dances.  It was jolly good fun learning them and I hope to be able to use that knowledge one day since I couldn't actually attend the event.

I usually don't wear such long frocks, but I felt very elegant and ladylike in this.  I was still playing around with my flapper hair, so I tried on a headpiece to see how I liked it.

I am quite thankful it's Friday.  It's been a rather long week for me and there's a busy weekend ahead of me. It shall be fun nonetheless.  I need to make a leather satchel by Monday (a holiday here) for another visit to the Renaissance Faire.  I won't have time to make the whole outfit from a pattern that I purchased.  I will jsut put pieces together from what I already have.

Hope you all had a lovely week.  And here's to the weekend.  Tally-ho!

Mint and Lace

Lookie!  I'm a good girl and have my Friday post out on time!  This is thanks in part to having a free evening the other night after work where I could put the photos up awhile and then just throw in some words at another time.  Lately I've been either doing something every evening after work or I'm too exhausted to want to do much besides lounge on the couch watching some telly.  Also, my weekends have been pretty booked between friends and reenactments.

So not as much time for blogging.  Which I find rather ironic.  Now that I actually have a semblance of a life and am doing things, I don't have the time and/or energy to post about them.  I mean, jeepers, I haven't even posted photos from Reading's WWII Weekend and that was in June!

These photos were taken by the local creek that runs through my town.  I was running errands this day and didn't want to have to drive out of the way to go to my usual spot.  It's a pretty location but the shading from the trees combined with the time of day made for some dim photos.

Outfit Details:
vintage top, vintage collar {Grandma Ruth}
vintage Ferragamo shoes, belt, skirt, handbag {thrifted}
hair comb {eBay}

You can tell by my hair that these photos were taken shortly before The Great Gatsby came out.  I was still experimenting with different methods to achieve nice looking finger waves.  This was not the best of attempts, by far.  But I eventually got better at it and they turned out rather well for the actual day of my Gatsby photoshoot I did before seeing the film.

I've already started editing photos for Sunday's Instagram post, so hopefully it will actually come out this week and on time!  The horror!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

My Week According to Instagram

Another week has passed.  And I've actually been a good girl all week when it came to blogging.  Everything came out on time.  I told you, I just have to get back into the routine of things.  And getting a head start by at least having the photos ready certainly helps matters.

I've spent a good portion of my evenings this week with R.  We don't really do too much but lay about and watch films.  But I love his company regardless.  Wednesday we did go out drinking with some of his mates.  Other than that, we've spent our evenings in.

1. Last Saturday's outfit for a cookout at my brother's house.
2. Good hair day that didn't last long thanks to the humidity.
3. There's a ladybug pin on my hat!
4. 1850 dream house for sale about 10 minutes from where I live.

15. Made myself a tasty cocktail Friday night.

Today I'll drive my mum to church, as she has recently broken her leg.  Afterwards we will head back to her house for food and games.  She said she's planning on making chicken kabobs with cheesy potatoes for dinner and apple crisp for dessert.  She sure knows the way to my heart: chicken and potatoes.  It would only be fully complete with s'mores and mint chocolate chip ice cream.  Oh well, can't win them all.  I'll just have to win at Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock and Trivial Pursuit Genius Edition.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and an even better week ahead!

My (Past Two) Week(s) According to Instagram

Be afraid, be very afraid.  This is a heavy picture loaded entry (over 100!) thanks to missing last Sunday's Instagram post and the large volume of photos from WWII Weekend.  I won't go into detail with what happened at the event in this post.  I'll save it for the individual posts for each day.

Now that we've got that out of the way, I've had a few very eventful, full weeks.  At least busier than I'm used to being lately.  As you all know, unless you've been MIA from the blog (like me, sorry!), last weekend was the big WWII event at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, PA.  I met a very special fella there who I spent some of the week with.

Then on Tuesday I got all four of my wisdom teeth extracted.  No fun, let me tell you, but it could have been a lot worse.  Thankfully I didn't puff up too much and I suppose the pain could have been worse.  It was mostly general discomfort and not being able to sleep correctly.

Wednesday I went to a funeral to support someone very special to me.  It wasn't easy dealing with the pain and everything not even 24 hours post-surgery, but I really wanted to be there for them.

1-4. My outfit two Sunday's ago...or three if you count today.

112. Happy Father's Day!

Thursday was a day of much needed rest with the ice pack on my face most of the day to help ease the pain.  Friday I spent the day with my new fella.  Even though we had kissed and everything in the photoshoot and went out with a group afterwards, this was our official "first date".  We went to Lititz for their Second Friday because the one shoppe owner told me they were having some swing dance event.  That turned into a bust as they only played one song whilst we were there.  But we still had a nice time in each others company walking around the town and peeking in the shoppes.

Saturday we spent the day together again, this time up towards where he lives.  We drove into Philadelphia and he showed me around a bit.  I haven't been in the city for quite some time and since he frequents there often, it was lovely to stroll the streets arm in arm.  We got to explore the USS Olympia which was constructed in 1891.  It was fun to get to see the inside and how beautiful everything still was.  He then took me to a speakeasy for a drink.  It was really neat in there and it fit with our 20s apparel perfectly.

Despite the ups and downs and the craziness of the past two weeks, I wouldn't change a thing because it lead me to where I am now.

How have you all been?  Done anything exciting?
