Style Crush: Robert Taylor

Style Crush is finally back this week and it's featuring one of my favourite old Hollywood actors and crush in general...Robert Taylor.

I remember the first film I saw Robert in.  It was Waterloo Bridge and I fell madly for him.  He had a charm that was palpable through the screen and made me feel deeply for his character and the struggles he faced.

The next film I saw was Camille.  Poor Robert played yet another character that wasn't the luckiest in love.  It furthered my love of him and I began to watch every film of his that TCM aired.

He's able to pull off the looks of so many different characters.  He can wear the casual tennis jumper and then change into a tuxedo and look just as dashing.  I love the men's fashion of old.  It was just such a put together, polished look.  The fedora, the three piece suit, the wingtips...  There's just something about a well dressed man that makes a gal swoon a bit...

Red and Yellow

Huzzah!  At last another outfit post...  I'm back (hopefully, just need to get into the routine again) and better than ever!  I was in a bit of a mood a few weeks back and that added to my not wanting to blog.  But now that mood has passed and I'm happier than I've been in awhile.

I spent most of this weekend with R, as I did last weekend.  He really is quite the upgrade from J.  Saturday he came with my family to my brother's house for a lovely cookout.  Then we spent the rest of the evening relaxing and watching Django Unchained.

Sunday R and I had an early morning as his band was leading worship at Camp Swatara's church.  It was my first time getting to hear him play an instrument and sing and it was quite nice.  He has a very good voice.  I can't wait for him to give me guitar lessons.

After church we had lunch at the camp and then headed to Conrad Weiser Homestead for a concert honouring veteran's and different important songs were played that spanned the years.  R was there to take pictures; he's quite the photographer.  I could only stay for a half hour or so before I had to leave for another thing I had planned for yesterday.

Outfit Details:
vintage dress, jewellery {grandmother}
vintage hat, shoes {gift}
gloves, handbag, belt {thrifted}
backseam stockings {eBay}

After I left the concert I met up with a lady that works at the library where I volunteer at.  She took me to Shupp's Grove for a bit of antiquing.  Unfortunately since we got there so late in the afternoon (combined with the horrid heat), a lot of the vendors were already packed away for the day.

I did manage to get two lovely white vintage summer dresses, a bunch of vintage 1940s-1950s patterns, and two True Story magazines from the 1920s.  So I made out quite well considering.  I can't wait to go back with Cathy again when we actually get there at a more proper time.  We talked about making a whole Saturday out of antiquing in that area since there's lots of different spots around the location.  It should be great fun.  I'm very lucky and blessed to have all these new blossoming relationships in my life...

How was your weekend?

My Week According to Instagram

I know, I know, I know...  Where the bloody hell have I been?!  I'm so sorry...  I actually took the time and edited over 100 Instagram photos from the past couple of weeks, put them up here, and wrote the whole blog entry.  Then went I went to post it, I lost everything and was too frustrated to go through all that again.  So I am skipping those two weeks and picking back up on this week.

One thing I must share since I'm not posting those photos is that the guy I met at WWII Weekend and I are no longer seeing each other.  I was really sad at first, but now I've realized it happened for a specific reason.  If I would have never met him, or if he would have never split up with me, then I wouldn't be where I'm at at this moment, nor whom I'm with.  I feel the pain was worth it in the end.

1. Watched On the Town for the first time. Such an entertaining film!
2. Last Sunday's outfit.
3. Monday's mixing of matching florals.

13. Friday's outfit. It was too hot to bother with anything too fancy.
14. Oh Benny...
15. Finally watched Mr Selfridge and loved it!

I've had some really busy weeks lately, which has been a wonderful change.  I've been hanging out with lots of different people.  Last weekend I went to Gettysburg for the 150th which was really neat to see.  There are photos on my IG account and there will be a post with photos eventually.

I'm writing this post a day early, because I'll be too busy this weekend to get it out on time and I feel terrible about being so far behind in blogging.  Saturday (aka today as I'm writing this) I went to my brother's house for a cookout with my family and a new fella.  Afterwards he and I will be going to a party at his mate's.

Today I'm going to church with R to hear his band play and then going to the Conrad Weiser Homestead with him whilst he takes pictures.  After that I get to go to Shupp's Grove with a friend from the library I volunteer at.  I've never been there before but apparently I'll love it.  There's all sorts of antiques and vintage clothing and whatnot.  Hmm...me, be interested in that...?  Never...

I'll leave you here for now.  Until next time...Which won't be nearly as long I promise!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

My (Past Two) Week(s) According to Instagram

Be afraid, be very afraid.  This is a heavy picture loaded entry (over 100!) thanks to missing last Sunday's Instagram post and the large volume of photos from WWII Weekend.  I won't go into detail with what happened at the event in this post.  I'll save it for the individual posts for each day.

Now that we've got that out of the way, I've had a few very eventful, full weeks.  At least busier than I'm used to being lately.  As you all know, unless you've been MIA from the blog (like me, sorry!), last weekend was the big WWII event at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, PA.  I met a very special fella there who I spent some of the week with.

Then on Tuesday I got all four of my wisdom teeth extracted.  No fun, let me tell you, but it could have been a lot worse.  Thankfully I didn't puff up too much and I suppose the pain could have been worse.  It was mostly general discomfort and not being able to sleep correctly.

Wednesday I went to a funeral to support someone very special to me.  It wasn't easy dealing with the pain and everything not even 24 hours post-surgery, but I really wanted to be there for them.

1-4. My outfit two Sunday's ago...or three if you count today.

5. "If the TARDIS is infinite with infinite rooms then maybe we're all in the TARDIS and don't even know it." "Mother of God!" "Maybe our entire universe is one room in the TARDIS." Mind = blown.

112. Happy Father's Day!

Thursday was a day of much needed rest with the ice pack on my face most of the day to help ease the pain.  Friday I spent the day with my new fella.  Even though we had kissed and everything in the photoshoot and went out with a group afterwards, this was our official "first date".  We went to Lititz for their Second Friday because the one shoppe owner told me they were having some swing dance event.  That turned into a bust as they only played one song whilst we were there.  But we still had a nice time in each others company walking around the town and peeking in the shoppes.

Saturday we spent the day together again, this time up towards where he lives.  We drove into Philadelphia and he showed me around a bit.  I haven't been in the city for quite some time and since he frequents there often, it was lovely to stroll the streets arm in arm.  We got to explore the USS Olympia which was constructed in 1891.  It was fun to get to see the inside and how beautiful everything still was.  He then took me to a speakeasy for a drink.  It was really neat in there and it fit with our 20s apparel perfectly.

Despite the ups and downs and the craziness of the past two weeks, I wouldn't change a thing because it lead me to where I am now.

How have you all been?  Done anything exciting?
