Style Crush: Spencer Reid

It's time for the weekly Style Crush!  This week I'm featuring the adorable, super smart, socially awkward Dr. Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds, played by Matthew Gray Gubler.

I remember the first time I saw Spencer back in 2007.  I was flipping through the channels and saw this really cute guy sneaking around a house.  I stopped to see what it was.  It ended up being the episode where Reid was kidnapped by Tobias Hankle.  I was hooked ever since.  And have had a major crush on Spencer Reid ever since.

I love this geek chic style, as I like to call it that Spencer has.  He's definitely got a dreamy style.  I love all of his cardigans and sweater vests.  It might not work on some people, but it totally works on him.  And he certainly pulls off horn-rimmed glasses, as we saw in season one.

His style has certainly evolved from the beginning of the show, but still kept to his character.  His hair has also had many changes throughout the progress of the show.  My least favourite of his hair was season one, from then on I have had no complaints.  When he first cut his hair short I was shocked and swore I wouldn't like it.  Then I fell absolutely in love with it.  Now that his hair is growing out some on the current season, I'm really starting to miss the "boy band" hair.

I was very much behind on the show by 6 or so episodes.  I finally caught up a few weeks ago.  Each time I go for a period without the show, I forget how much I love it.  Then I watch it and think how I could ever go that long without watching the new episodes.  I feel so bad for Reid this season.  The poor guy just can't catch a break.  Though I most certainly will be happy to volunteer to be his girlfriend.  If only he weren't a fictional character...

Another thing that must be mentioned about Spencer is how sexy his intelligence is.  I love that he has a random fact about pretty much anything.  Smart is sexy.  I love a man that dresses well, is smart, and loves to read books.  Spencer is definitely a dream man for me.  I know Derek Morgan is a favourite among the ladies, and he is handsome, but for me it will always be Dr. Spencer Reid.

Lá Fhéile Pádraig

I hope everyone had a safe and happy St. Patrick's Day!  I spent mine as I said I would.  Started the morning off with church, went to my mum's a couple hours to have lunch before she had to study, and then kicked back watching both Boondock Saints films.  Even though I'm not a big drinker (so much for the Irish stereotype, huh?) I did have a wee shot of Bailey's.

I was a little disappointed my Norman Reedus marathon didn't continue as planned with The Walking Dead, since he didn't appear once in last night's episode.  Oh well.  The warehouse scene was pretty intense.  I'm just nervous for the last two episodes because something big is sure to happen.

In a funny sort of way to further the Irishness into today, I watched The Town for the first time.  I didn't really even think about it being set in Irish Boston when I put it in, but it's rather fitting.  Then whilst editing the photos, I watched a Celtic Thunder DVD.  Why not?  One simply does not stop being Irish just because it's no longer the 17th of March.

I went for the very obvious green theme whilst dressing yesterday.  I know the shade of green the shoes are don't really match too well but I didn't care.  I tried to then tie the look together with black accessories.  I got to wear my grandmother's vintage shamrock brooch and I made a wee bouquet with a couple other brooches.

My hair didn't turn out as planned.  I had tried a new way of putting the hot rollers in.  But in the end, it turned out rather well I think.  I really liked the two rolls around my face.  I, of course, had to pin back my hair to show off my shamrock tattoo behind my ear.

They're calling for another cold day with snow and a wintery mix.  I'll definitely be spending it curled up on the couch with a blanket and Smudger whilst watching the telly.  I'm ready for spring to fully move in.  I froze my bum off taking these photos yesterday.  The warm weather definitely won't be rolling in this week at all though it seems.  Here's hoping for next week.

So, what did you do to celebrate St. Patrick's Day?

My Week According to Instagram

Yesterday it snowed.  So much for spring, huh?  Hopefully that was winter's last ditch effort and it will finally start admitting defeat.  It's so hard to believe that a week ago it was in the 50s and sunny and now it's back to snow.  Oh ridiculous weather.

This week has not been my best.  I've had a horrible migraine since last Sunday that will not go away.  No matter any different medicine I try, it still stays strong.  Worse, the tension is all across my head, through my neck, and even down to my shoulders.  On top of it all, halfway through the week my back decided to act up and I can't move without pain.  I have no idea what happened to it, but I can barely bend forward, that's how stiff it is.  Even with taking a muscle relaxer I'm still super tense.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  What are your plans?  I know it's a party day for those Irish and non and a lot of people will be drinking, even though it's a Sunday.  Myself, even though I am Irish, am not a big drinker.  Plus I don't want to give my head an excuse to hurt anymore than it already does.

But as per my St. Patty's Day tradition, I shall be watching The Boondock Saints.  If you haven't seen it yet...where have you been?  I'll also be watching the sequel, All Saints Day.  I don't care if some people think it's bad.  Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery can do no wrong.  Plus those two gorgeous men with Irish accents.  Swoon-worthy.

La Fhéile Pádraig Shona Duit!

Recalling Rita Hayworth

This is what I wore for my birthday, as my followers on Instagram may remember.  I wanted to wear something special and ultra classy.  The vintage fur coat I bought the day before at a thrift shop and the vintage tapestry handbag I got the day before also at a yard sale.  Plus the faux fur bolero was another birthday thrift shop acquisition.  It was a very cold, blustery day in February so the coat definitely helped keep me warm.

This is the first time you're seeing this location.  These were taken at the front door to my apartment because I didn't want to risk taking my fur coat over to my mum's house full of dogs.  So I wore it here whilst she took photos and then put a different coat over my outfit.  I just knew if I took it, something terrible would happen.  Though her dogs aren't trained hunters, they certainly have that ingrained in them just because of their breeds.

This outfit just transformed me.  It made me feel very va-va-voom.  It certainly has something to do with the way the dress fits me like a second skin.  The dress is what you would call a "wiggle dress".  I always feel sultry with back seam stockings on.  Plus throw in fur and red lipstick and it's enough to make a girl feel like an old Hollywood film star.  I felt like I could be a modern day Rita Hayworth.

I had a really good birthday which I've wrote to you all about in a previous post.  It's hard to believe this Sunday it will already be a month since I've entered into official spinsterhood.  Time really does pass much faster as you get older.

Outfit Details:
vintage fur coat, vintage dress, vintage hat, vintage handbag, faux fur bolero, belt {thrifted}
backseam stockings {eBay}
heels {Baker's, gift}

As I mentioned earlier, it was very windy and cold.  So unfortunately, a lot of my shots are wind blown and you can't really enjoy the dress for all it's worth.  Suffice to say, I only managed to stay outside long enough to get a few shots before I hurried inside to warm up.  I ended up changing clothes afterwards because I decided I didn't want to sit in yucky cinema seats in my very nice outfit.  I wore this dress to WWII Weekend last year and it's still one of my favourites and a contender for this year's event.
