Style Crush: Michelle Williams

This week I'm featuring the lovely Michelle Williams. In her personal life, she keeps to herself, but there is one thing that's obvious from just looking at her: she's got style. It seems, at least to me, ever since she got her now infamous pixie cut, her style has evolved incredibly.

I really am in love with this look above. I don't know what it is about. It's the combination of several things I suppose. I love the fit of the dress, it has pockets! Also the length of the sleeves help balance out the hemline. Plus the two tone nude strappy sandals are to die for!

The dress below just reminds me of a waterfall for some reason. The fabric just drips down her petite frame and accentuates everything perfectly.

I adore this canary yellow gown she wore above with Heath Ledger. The golden colour glowed against her porcelain skin and the pop of colour on her lips tied it all together. I also loved the messy bun with wispy strands around her face.

To me, Michelle was an amazing Marilyn. When I first watched the film I felt completely transported. It really opened my eyes about Marilyn and broke my heart a little. Michelle truly was incredible in it.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this coral peplum gown! Words cannot describe the perfection of this confection! The peplum gave her the illusion of the curves she lacks, the colour looked phenomenal against her skin, it's just flawless. Plus the sweet little bow along the belt was just so precious.

Below she looked incredible in a tea-length frock at an event for Oz: The Great and Powerful. The blue really makes her eyes pop and the black belt is a great contrast.

Even when she's not all dolled up at an event, Michelle has got that great street style. Whether she's strolling around the streets of New York with her daughter or meeting up with a friend, she's got that oh-so-cool appeal. See below, she's wearing a simple pair of shorts and a chambray top. But with that messy chic coif and a cool pair of shades she looks like a girl you want to get to know.

I don't think I could ever chop my hair off into Michelle's signature style in the foreseeable future, but she makes me almost want to do it. It would be so effortless and it makes any style look so casually cool. All you need is to throw on a sweet pair of Ray-bans.

So here is this week's Style Crush. Michelle is one I always love to find in the magazines to see her incredible street style or her flawless red carpet frocks.

My Week According to Instagram

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
I hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was filled with the good, the bad, and the ugly. Friday night I had a first date with a guy that went well. Saturday I had plans to hang out with some girls but then ended up falling down the last few steps in my apartment. Ouch. I landed against an antique trunk and my vintage bicycle. I'm okay mostly. Nothing is broken and it wasn't bad enough to go to hospital. I am just very stiff, very bruised, and very sore. Oh stupid clumsiness.

1. Oh Daryl, yes, yes yes. Is it time of TWD yet?
2. Smudger got comfy on my legs.
3. Vintage cookbooks and repro Coke bottles line the ledge in my kitchen.
4. I discussed the gorgeous Oscar fashion here, including Jessica Chastain.

5. Some homemade banana bread.

16. Another photo from this blog post.

My week thankfully was pretty uneventful to make up for the weekend. I just hope this fall didn't make my back injury any worse. It certainly feels that way now along with my bum, hip, shoulder, and wrists/hands. Golly. I'm going to keep this short and sweet as typing doesn't feel to good right now. Today I will be spending the time resting and counting down until I see a certain muscly redneck wielding a crossbow.

My injury happened whilst digging in my purse as I walked down the steps. Have any of you had any stupid injuries because you weren't paying attention or something along those lines?

Of Shoes and Hats

Wow, can you believe that it is March already? I nearly wrote May, wishful thinking I suppose. But I will most definitely take March. I keep seeing photos on Instagram of people that live in California or Australia where it's warmer and it makes me long for the shedding of layers. I am constantly seeing photos of all these lovely ladies in their sweet summer dresses or even skirts with no stockings.

This cardigan my mum got me for Christmas, and though it's not real vintage, I love the classic look to it. I don't have that many lace pieces in my wardrobe and this was a nice addition. Especially since it's a lace that I can wear during the colder months. I've worn this blouse and cardigan combination many times, probably because purple and green are my favourite colours. I am also wearing this knit skirt here again because it's just so darn comfortable and I love the way it conforms to my curves.

I had the bright idea to wear these peep-toe wedges that I just bought off of eBay. Not exactly the smartest idea I had. Besides having very cold, wet toes, I also got the new shoes completely covered in mud. It was cold enough out to still have snow on the ground but warm enough that it had started to melt. That resulted in very, very mushy ground. Not the easiest thing to run around taking photos in. I had to curl my toes up in the shoes as I walked to keep the mud from squishing into my shoes.

Here are the elusive muck shoes. I adore them and cannot wait until I can wear them again. They're not vintage but they still have that look to them, and that's good enough for me. Plus there is just something about wedges that I like. I've got a few pairs of wedges so it's nice to add these to the family.

I must admit, I do have a bit of a shoe addiction. But truly, that's not too strange for a woman. Shoes are definitely starting to take over my closet though. I think they must multiply when I'm not looking. I haven't bought any too recently except a pair of vintage Ferragamos and this beautiful floral t-strap peep-toe pair that I'm longing to wear. Those will probably be the first I strap to my feet when weather permits. T-straps are just so sexy to me.

I can't believe I haven't worn this fur hat more yet. It's perfect to keep my head warm in the cold and it was quite a steal, price-wise. I really must work it into my wardrobe a couple times in the next month or so. The poor thing isn't getting it's fun out in the world and is just hanging on my wall with some other vintage hat friends. I seem to wear the same few hats in rotation and don't share the fun with others. Some hats I have are more for display. One is very fragile and the netting is in very bad shape. The other is a gorgeous 1920s turban type hat that I just love but it's rather snug on my head. I would most definitely wear it though if I had a 1920s outfit to wear it with. I'm so glad I wrote this, because as I just did, inspiration struck. I now know that I do have a flapper-esque dress that I can wear with the turban and am longing for warm weather even more so now.

This was a really good photo shoot for me. I feel it turned out really well and I hope you all feel that way as well. I'm getting better at taking my own photo. Unfortunately, now I'm going to have to get used to a whole new camera setup. Still, this new camera should take better photos. Even though the camera is around 10 years old, my dad said he bought it for around $1,000 new back then. So we shall see.

Style Crush: Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Here is this week's style crush, and first man that made it in this feature: Joseph Gordon-Levitt. This man is one of my favourites. He is the perfect combination of adorable and sexy. And his style is flawless. Joe can wear a suit like nobody's business. He makes it an art form. His suits never fail to be tailored flawlessly. I'd like to think that he ups the ante for men out there, showing you can still dress well. It doesn't hurt that he has a certain vintage flavour to his style, which I adore. Don't you think we'd look good together...?

I've had a crush on Joe ever since he was on 3rd Rock From the Sun. He had his really long hair back then. Looking back at it, I'm glad his hair is shorter now. Really though, he can pull off several different hairstyles. I especially love the shaggy look he had in (500) Days of Summer or his most common style, how he had it in Inception and whatnot. I loved his character in (500) Days, just so sweet and adorable. I would love to find a man like that.

This man is so adorable I can't stand it! Look at that face above! I just want to cuddle him. I know a lot of these photos are from photo shoots where they style him. But he also looks good on his own. See below as proof. He's just in a simple button-down, trousers, and a pair of Chucks and he looks so handsome.

It gives me reason to believe, that even though he is always seen in this dapper 1960s style look, that it must be somewhat his own personal taste since he chooses to dress this way to premieres and awards shows. He could very well have a stylist pull things for him, as many celebrities do, but they still have a say in what they wear. I adore this three-piece suit above. I do have a certain weakness for waistcoats that I won't pretend to hide. And the tailoring on his suits is flawless and so attractive.

Just look at the way this suit below fits him! Gosh he looks so handsome. It's enough to make a girl swoon...and that's even without him showing those dimples! Plus I also adore his choice in eyewear. The vintage style frames just compliment his style perfectly.

So here it is, my first male Style Crush...and crush in general. Golly gee, Joe sure is an all around dream guy for me. He's sweet, handsome, adorable, impeccable fashion sense, not to mention how talented he is as an actor, singer, and dance. Hello Oscars! Has anyone see him do "Make 'Em Laugh" on Saturday Night Live? Such an incredible performance. I tried finding the video on YouTube to share with you, but could not find it. So if you get the opportunity to see him when he hosted SNL, watch it.

What do you think of my choice as first male on Style Crush? Do you like a man who can wear a suit really well? Or do you prefer your men in a more laid back style?

Did you know...? Joe and I share the same birthday, 17 February.

Itching for Spring

So what did everyone think of the Oscars? Or if you were like me, Sunday's The Walking Dead? Hello, Team Daryl. I can't believe it's been a couple weeks since posting an outfit photo! What's gotten into me? Well, the good thing is, that my backlog will hopefully last until the weather warms up enough to take outfit photos again. I could just take them but I'd like to show more than just my jacket. It's been far too cold (and especially windy) to take photos sans coat.

Yesterday was a really beautiful day. It was the first sign that Spring is on its way. It was still a bit cool obviously because it's still February. But the sun was shining and the temperature was in the high 40s. When it's lovely out it just puts me in a good mood. Especially after it being cold for so long.

This green ring with matching necklace belonged to my paternal grandmother. I adore all the jewelry that was passed down to me. The neat thing about the pendant is that it can also be worn as a brooch. I love the way the sun hit the two photos below!

I am getting so excited for sandals and summer dresses! I've acquired some pieces through the cold months that I've just been itching to get a chance to wear. There are several dresses that are sleeveless. Two are floor-length, one with a lace neckline! I have also gotten some peep-toe shoes that I want to wear, and my sandal wedges want to come out and play again.

Outfit Details:
vintage skirt, camisole, cardigan, belt {thrifted}
vintage jewelry {paternal grandmother}
tights {target}
shoes {Baker's, gift}

Here's hoping within the next few weeks I'll be able to test out my new camera and tripod! Goodbye precariously balanced stool and typewriter lid! Now all I need to get is a remote and taking selfies will be a breeze.
