My Week According to Instagram

This week was rather busy for me.  It feels good to sit down and type this out.  Tuesday was the only day that I didn't have something to do.  I haven't been this busy in a while, it's weird.

Speaking of weird, the weather has been all out of whack.  It's turning around today and looking warmer for the rest of the week.  Unfortunately, with that, probably comes the humidity as well.  Humidity is not my friend.  My hair goes crazy and gets super fluffy and out of control.  I have yet to find the right hair products to defeat this nuisance.

3-4. At the car show in my town.

5-6. In black and white.

Style Crush: Zachary Quinto

Because I'm still in a Star Trek mood, and I'm getting to see the film again this Friday, this week's Style Crush is another cast member: the handsome Zachary Quinto.

I love the fact that Zachary is wearing a bow tie with his suit above.  I also had to use this photo because Benedict Cumberbatch is in it.  And even though Zach does look really good in the photo below, it definitely is a nice excuse to also look at Benedict (and Chris.)  See how I got around that?  It totally worked, right?

Zachary, of course, has a good street style too.  He wouldn't be a full rounded Style Crush if he just looked good at events where people most likely styled him.  I do think men have it a bit easier though.  They can just throw on some jeans and shirt and look good.

He sure does clean up nice though.  I love a man in a three piece suit.  It's just so classic and charming.

Zachary first came into my radar when he played Sylar in Heroes.  He's such a diverse actor that you actually believe he's a power stealing psycho, or a 1960s serial killer, or even a green-blooded half-Vulcan.

My Week According to Instagram

Another week has passed.  This week was a week for rekindling old friendships.  On Monday I met up with my friend Nikkoel who I hadn't seen since graduation in 2004.  We did a Great Gatsby photoshoot before we went and saw the film.  It was really a lot of fun teaming up with someone to take photos.

Wednesday night I got to see my friend Amanda who I know from beauty school and working at the same salon together.  We met up in Lebanon to see Star Trek Into Darkness.  The neat thing was that the cinema played the first Star Trek film beforehand to really get us in the mood for the new one.  I must just say that it was phenomenal and it was really nice seeing Benedict Cumberbatch in 3D and on that big of a screen.

 1. My finger waves turned out great just in time for Gatsby.
2. My mum and I when I was a wee lass.
3. Swooning over RDJ.
4. Last week's Instagram post.

5-6. All dolled up for The Great Gatsby.

12. The final outfit for Star Trek.

13. Oh yes, that's a phaser.
14. The glorious Benedict Cumberbatch in Star Trek Into Darkness.
15. I wore a nightgown as a dress on Thursday.
16. The goodies I won in Nora's giveaway arrived!

17-18. Incredible deadstock vintage dresses my mum told me about.
19-20.Very springy in a lilac dress on Friday.

21-24. Some photos from the Gatsby shoot. The rest can be seen here.

25. Devoured (hehe) the first season of UK's Being Human. Can't wait to watch the rest.
26. Found this beautiful piece on Craig's List.
27. Welcome home, baby.

Yesterday I headed over to my mum's house to restore an old 1950s Formica table that she picked up for free on the side of the road.  I sanded the chipped paint off the legs and painted them a glossy black.  The chrome and top were in pretty good condition and just needed a bit of cleaning.  The table is going to serve as my new sewing station.

I also picked up a beautiful Waterfall wardrobe that I found on Craig's List.  I've wanted a matching one for my bedroom set for quite awhile.  After my current wardrobe's rod broke, I decided it was time to seriously into a replacement.  And voila!  A couple days after searching, I found a lovely one that nearly matches my current set perfectly.

Today was the car show which was a bit of an anti-climax.  The overcast clouds and on and off misting rain kept most of the really pretty vintage cars at home.  I was a bit disappointed because I really wanted to take outfit photos by them.  There was one nice Ford from 1940 that I got my photo with so that's good at least.

How was your weekend?

Style Crush: Zoe Saldana

Since I will be attending the midnight showing of Star Trek Into Darkness, it's only fitting that the beautiful Zoe Saldana is this week's Style Crush.

Zoe has this very appealing girl-next-door vibe to her that works well with her street style and also carries well into her red carpet look.

She can also pull out the sex appeal as seen in this lovely black lace back dress.  It's so swoon-worthy!  I'd love to have this.

Zoe has a tall, lean frame that can pull off structured pieces like this gown above.  She can also wear demure pastel looks.  The outfit below is most certainly something I would wear.

Her hair looks so amazing in this backroll with the jewellery accents.  It seems Zoe can pull off any hairstyle whether it be long, short, curly, straight, an up-do...

This green beaded gown is absolutely to die for!  I love the colour and the simplicity of the silhouette.  It looks incredible on her.

Here Zoe is at a premiere for Star Trek.  She has the ability to pull off vibrant colours as well as more calm blush tones.  Zoe has an impeccable style that always remains classy with the right touch of sensuousness.

I am so excited to see the new film tonight.  They are doing a double feature so we get to see the first one in cinemas again followed up by Into Darkness.  I have a feeling my expectations will be exceeded and that I will be swooning over Benedict Cumberbatch (even if he's the baddie) along with the other handsome Star Fleet men.

My Week According to Instagram

Happy Mother's Day to all you mummies out there (even mummies to pets)!  Today I got to spend the day with my mum, brother, sister-in-law, and nephew.  Mum and I went to church as usual and spent a bit of the early afternoon together.  Then we went over to my brother's house and spent time with his wife and son while waiting for him to come home from work.  We ate dinner at a local chicken restaurant and had a good time, until my nephew got cranky because he couldn't go miniature golfing.

Yesterday I got to hang out with my best friend Michelle whom I don't get to see as often as I'd like.  We live close to an hour apart, which isn't too terrible, but it does hamper getting together at times.  We spent the day walking around Lititz, which is a really beautiful area.  It's got loads of old historic buildings along the streets and also a bunch of sweet little boutiques and shops.

1-2. I am in love with last Sunday's 1930s inspired outfit.
3-4. Another photoshoot at the train tracks.  This is becoming a regular spot for me.

5. Last week's Instagram post.
6-7. Outfit for running errands.
8. Photoshoot by the cherry blossoms again.

9. Tested out my flapper outfit to go see The Great Gatsby.
10. A close up of my beautiful 1920s cloche hat.
11. 1920s shoes. I want them all!
12. A gorgeous couple from the 20s.

13. A sweet shot of my sweet Smudger.
14. Hmm...which to wear when I go see Star Trek Into Darkness...
15. Benedict Cumberbatch was on a fair amount of talk shows!
16. Carey Mulligan was this week's Style Crush.

17. Shared this blog post on Instagram.
18. My great-grandparents in March of 1920.
19. My great-grandmother on the far right in the 1920s.
20. Shared this post on Instagram.

21. There's just something tasty about British villains.
22. I cannot wait to see (Benedict in) Star Trek Into Darkness.
23-24. I couldn't pass up the photo-op by this caboose built in 1942.

25. I should have bought these cute cat-eye glasses.
26-27. The bedroom display at The Curiosity Shoppe is incredible.
28. Michelle and I couldn't pass up the chance to pose in these extravagant vintage hats.

29. We should have been hat models.
30. Oh no! The Enterprise is crashing!

It was really going into the different shops and looking at all the gorgeous vintage items (and lusting over a lot of them!).  We also tried on glasses and extravagant hats.  We laughed over some ridiculous 1970s clothing including some pretty out there jumpsuits.  Next time I said we will have to try on the craziest outfits we can find and take photos like we did with the hats.

My favourite store we went into by far was The Curiosity Shoppe.  It's loaded with lovely vintage items everywhere.  They've even named the shop's pet birds Fred and Ginger!  This is definitely my type of store.  The owner even told me about some future events because she knows from the last time I was in there (and from my outfit yesterday) that I'm very much into the past.  I hope I'll get to go to the one event in June she mentioned that will have swing dancing and whatnot.  It's only a few days after I am scheduled to get my wisdom teeth out so it will have to depend on how I'm feeling and what the swelling situation is at that time.

How was your weekend?  Did you get to do anything fun?
