My (Past Three) Week(s) According to Instagram

I know, I know...  I was doing so good for a week there with blogging and then I let it all go to pot again.

My weeks and weekends have been much busier of late.  I ended up getting a temp job so now my weekdays are filled with work.  Since my back still hurts and I'm not used to waking up so early yet, it's taken awhile for me to adjust.  I haven't been posting as many Instagram daily outfits either because it's rather dirty where I'm working and I don't want my pretty vintage items to get grease stains and the like on them.

My weekends have been filled with either reenactments, hanging out with friends, or both.  The past two weekends I went to two different reenactments.  One at Joanna Furnace and one at Eckley's Miners' Village.  They both had dances in the evening which were great fun.  I still have no idea what I'm doing, but if I have a strong lead, I can go with the flow rather well.

1. My outfit two Sundays ago.
2. First time wearing this vintage dress and hat.
3. No outfit photoshoots lately due to the heat, but mum took a quick snap.
4. Beat the heat with a Mike's hard lemonade at a baseball game.

5. TARDIS pyjamas! Need I say more?
6. Two Mondays ago's outfit. Another new (to me) vintage dress.
7. First time wearing this hat as well.
8. Out to the cinema to see This Is the End. I love this 50s frock.

9. Too hot to care; thus entered the mint sailor shorts.
10. My new favourite cocktail at Applebees: frozen strawberry lemonade with rum.
11. Beautiful Benedict celebrated his 37th birthday on 19 July.
12. No holiday for me this year. But hopefully a beach trip to do a vintage swimsuit shoot at least...

13. Randomly dreamed of Jonathan Scott from Property Brothers.
14. I certainly feel like a fool a lot of the time.
15-16. Outfit for WWII reenactment at Joanna Furnace.

17. A dreamy soldier.
18. I ended up buying a new (to me) vintage dress and changing into it.
19. And then I ended up ripping it whilst swing dancing later on.
20. A girl and her gun.

21. Two vintage baby dresses I couldn't pass up from Joanna Furnace.
22. Last Sunday's easy breezy outfit.
23. A woman from the Joanna Furnace event gave me these custom made 1940s crocodile shoes!
24. Picked some Queen Anne's lace that I love.

25. On the bridge in Mt. Gretna.
26. Joanna Furnace, Mike's, Willow, and Reading WWII Weekend.
27. Smudger loves to play with soda bottles.
28. Johnny Galecki- I can't get enough of The Big Bang Theory.

29. Saturday's outfit for another WWII reenactment at Eckley's Miners' Village.
30. Gorgeous wrought iron bench outside the Sharpe House.
31-32. At the Sharpe House.

33-34. Inside the Sharpe House.
35. A tank outside of where the USO dance was held.
36. Swinging the night away.

37-38. One does not simply come across Captain America and Wolverine masks without putting them on.
39. Smudger from two weeks old to three years old.
40. Took Smudger to get ice cream on his birthday.

41. One of my favourite photos from Reading's WWII Weekend.
42. I can't wait to swing dance again. I miss it.
43-44. Friday's outfit to see Swing Fever play.

45. Behind on responding to my penpals.
46. Saturday's 50s outfit to hear Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods play.

This weekend I had more events going on.  Friday evening the band Swing Fever played a concert in the park which I attended.  I am addicted to hunting down all the local swing dance events.  I was a bit disappointed that no one was dancing, so I left after the first set.  It was mostly older people sitting around in their lawn chairs.  Not what I wanted.

Then come Saturday, I went to the Lebanon Fair.  My friend's cousin's band Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods were performing 50s/60s rock and roll there.  Today has been a day of rest for me.  I'm not used to being this active plus working a job on top of it, all with stupid back pain/headaches to throw a wrench in the situation.

I'll try once again to be more proactive with this.  Hopefully once my body becomes more accustomed to the new hours and all I can get on a better schedule.  I hope you've all been doing well!

My Week According to Instagram

Happy Mother's Day to all you mummies out there (even mummies to pets)!  Today I got to spend the day with my mum, brother, sister-in-law, and nephew.  Mum and I went to church as usual and spent a bit of the early afternoon together.  Then we went over to my brother's house and spent time with his wife and son while waiting for him to come home from work.  We ate dinner at a local chicken restaurant and had a good time, until my nephew got cranky because he couldn't go miniature golfing.

Yesterday I got to hang out with my best friend Michelle whom I don't get to see as often as I'd like.  We live close to an hour apart, which isn't too terrible, but it does hamper getting together at times.  We spent the day walking around Lititz, which is a really beautiful area.  It's got loads of old historic buildings along the streets and also a bunch of sweet little boutiques and shops.

1-2. I am in love with last Sunday's 1930s inspired outfit.
3-4. Another photoshoot at the train tracks.  This is becoming a regular spot for me.

5. Last week's Instagram post.
6-7. Outfit for running errands.
8. Photoshoot by the cherry blossoms again.

9. Tested out my flapper outfit to go see The Great Gatsby.
10. A close up of my beautiful 1920s cloche hat.
11. 1920s shoes. I want them all!
12. A gorgeous couple from the 20s.

17. Shared this blog post on Instagram.
18. My great-grandparents in March of 1920.
19. My great-grandmother on the far right in the 1920s.
20. Shared this post on Instagram.

21. There's just something tasty about British villains.
22. I cannot wait to see (Benedict in) Star Trek Into Darkness.
23-24. I couldn't pass up the photo-op by this caboose built in 1942.

25. I should have bought these cute cat-eye glasses.
26-27. The bedroom display at The Curiosity Shoppe is incredible.
28. Michelle and I couldn't pass up the chance to pose in these extravagant vintage hats.

29. We should have been hat models.
30. Oh no! The Enterprise is crashing!

It was really going into the different shops and looking at all the gorgeous vintage items (and lusting over a lot of them!).  We also tried on glasses and extravagant hats.  We laughed over some ridiculous 1970s clothing including some pretty out there jumpsuits.  Next time I said we will have to try on the craziest outfits we can find and take photos like we did with the hats.

My favourite store we went into by far was The Curiosity Shoppe.  It's loaded with lovely vintage items everywhere.  They've even named the shop's pet birds Fred and Ginger!  This is definitely my type of store.  The owner even told me about some future events because she knows from the last time I was in there (and from my outfit yesterday) that I'm very much into the past.  I hope I'll get to go to the one event in June she mentioned that will have swing dancing and whatnot.  It's only a few days after I am scheduled to get my wisdom teeth out so it will have to depend on how I'm feeling and what the swelling situation is at that time.

How was your weekend?  Did you get to do anything fun?

My Week According to Instagram/100th Post!

Wow!  Can you believe that this is my 100th post?!  Soon enough it will be the blog's one year anniversary.

Monday I volunteered at the library for a few hours.  It was nice to hang out with the lovely ladies there and of course where all the books live!  If I could, I would probably live in the library, that's how much I love books and their stories.  That's also probably why I turned my spare bedroom into a library.  Who needs a spare bedroom anyway?  I spent my time there putting away the DVDs (the actual discs are kept behind the counter) and stocking them plus the books/magazines throughout the library.  It doesn't sound like it would take one long, but after the holiday weekend there was a lot to put away.  Doing this totally fed into my slightly OCD organization skills.

Thursday night I went to the library's crochet club.  You can also knit there, but they like a good alliteration like I do.  The librarian taught me a few basic crochet steps as I've never done it before.  It was really fun and something I wanted to learn for quite awhile.  I'd like to learn to knit also, but they suggested crochet first as it was a little simpler.  I can't wait to get it down so I can start making all sorts of things.  Right now I'm working on a scarf, but that seems a bit silly during springtime.

21. Caffeine fix for watching my 5 year old nephew.
22. Gorgeous peacock at Saturday night's restaurant.
23. Did someone say Lucy? Today's outfit laid out.
24. Watched a great documentary about King George VI.

Yesterday I watched my nephew and then we all went out to dinner at Kauffman's Chicken (or the Chicken House as Evan calls it).  We had a yummy dinner and then tasty ice cream for dessert.  I got to see the beautiful peacock that lives there and then go home and see the beautiful Time Lord that came on the telly.

Today is the usual church and then mum's.  We will probably take the dogs for a walk since it's going to be lovely out again.  Then MAD MEN!  I'm so excited for the return tonight.  Especially since (thank to Watchathon Week) I'm for once caught up for the new season.

Did you do anything special to celebrate the warm weather?  Have a glorious day!  And thanks to those who have been reading and enjoying!

My Week According to Instagram

Happy Easter one and all!  I hope you are having a wonderful time celebrating this very special day.  I will be attending church, as usual, with my mum.  Afterwards my brother, his wife, and son will come over for Easter dinner at my mum's house.  I'm glad we are able to spend time together.

Hopefully by tonight, I can continue to remain spoiler-free in regards to The Walking Dead after last week's fiasco.  There's nothing worse than spoilers.

In more cheerful news, Bomb Girls and Doctor Who is back!!!  Plus Mad Men in one week!  Hopefully these shows will fill the hole that The Walking Dead will leave.  But sadness aside, can we just take a moment and talk about how amazing the return of Bomb Girls and Doctor Who was?  I almost forgot how much I enjoyed those programs until they came back on.  Oh Doctor...

31-32. He's back!!!

It's slowly starting to warm up again.  This weekend's weather has been nice, in the 50s, though they are calling for rain this afternoon.  I know I've said this before, but I can't wait for the warmth to come and stay.  Friday I got to wear my pretty blue 1960s frock.  I had to go in that direction after watching a season and a half of Mad Men.  But I'm ready and rearing to go for next week's premiere.

Yesterday Mum and I helped out at our church's Easter egg hunt.  My nephew came along and then we took him to another egg hunt.  The lucky lad!  I wish they had egg hunts for adults.  I miss the rush and thrill of trying to grab those eggs.  Plus some free candy is always nice.  Though they did hand out chocolate bunnies to both adults and children at the second egg hunt.  Yum.

What are your Easter plans?  I hope you have a happy and joyous day no matter what it is!  Happy Easter!

My Week According to Instagram

Yesterday it snowed.  So much for spring, huh?  Hopefully that was winter's last ditch effort and it will finally start admitting defeat.  It's so hard to believe that a week ago it was in the 50s and sunny and now it's back to snow.  Oh ridiculous weather.

This week has not been my best.  I've had a horrible migraine since last Sunday that will not go away.  No matter any different medicine I try, it still stays strong.  Worse, the tension is all across my head, through my neck, and even down to my shoulders.  On top of it all, halfway through the week my back decided to act up and I can't move without pain.  I have no idea what happened to it, but I can barely bend forward, that's how stiff it is.  Even with taking a muscle relaxer I'm still super tense.

26. Choices, choices.  My Irish jewelry options.
27. Mmm, yes...
28. Smudger says Happy St. Patrick's Day! (photo from last year)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  What are your plans?  I know it's a party day for those Irish and non and a lot of people will be drinking, even though it's a Sunday.  Myself, even though I am Irish, am not a big drinker.  Plus I don't want to give my head an excuse to hurt anymore than it already does.

But as per my St. Patty's Day tradition, I shall be watching The Boondock Saints.  If you haven't seen it yet...where have you been?  I'll also be watching the sequel, All Saints Day.  I don't care if some people think it's bad.  Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery can do no wrong.  Plus those two gorgeous men with Irish accents.  Swoon-worthy.

La Fhéile Pádraig Shona Duit!

My Week According to Instagram

Spring is here!  Well, at least temporarily.  Yesterday and today the temperature is in the high 50s and tomorrow is supposed to be around that also, though with a bit of rain possible.  There's something about when the warmth starts to come that just cheers me up and puts a spring in my step.  I can whip out my favourite styles of clothing and all my favourite shoes.

I've had a pretty good week overall, if you don't count my constant nightmares I endure almost every night.  The latest?  Fighting in WWII, having cancer, having a serial killer after me, and of course zombies.  Monday I spent the evening at my dad's.  We had incredible pizza and watched the latest 007 film, Skyfall.  I already loved Ben Whishaw, but after seeing him as Q, it just developed more.  I really could go for watching that again.

Yesterday I switched things up and took outfit photos at the Milcreek Wildlife Sanctuary.  My normal location was otherwise occupied so I went there instead.  I saw the beautiful white snow geese in the water.  It looked like hundreds of white swans from the distance.

16. Ewan McGregor and his amazing hair in Jack the Giant Slayer.

17. Eleanor Tomlinson looked beautiful in Jack the Giant Slayer.
18. If you couldn't tell, I saw Jack, and look at Ewan's hair! Gorgeous.
19. Oh Nicholas Hoult, your baby blues Slay me.
20. Housewife attire. Now I just need to become a wife...

21. Wore a headscarf in a bow to make my hair last a day longer.
22. My grandmother's vintage brooch added the perfect touch.
23. Petals and Paid post up on the blog.
24. Watched Wuthering Heights starring Andrew Lincoln and Tom Hardy.

25. Saturday's outfit of frills and polka dots.
26. This sign instantly made me think of Daryl Dixon.
27. Took photos at Milcreek Wildlife Sanctuary yesterday.
28. Weather was warm enough to wear my vintage nightgown to bed.

29. A close up of the nightgown, though it's actually a blush colour.
30. 3 Facts: 1. I am in love with Fun., 2. I am in love with the way Nate dresses, 3. I am in love with their cover of "Somebody That I Used to Know".

This afternoon my mum and I might take her three doggies to Blue Marsh.  For those of you (probably all), Blue Marsh is a huge lake area with beaches, hiking trails, and lots of places for boating.  It's a beautiful area and the dogs love running through the woods and swimming in the water.  I'll also be taking more photos this afternoon, before the hiking since I'll have to change my clothes if we go.  I just love this warm weather!  It cheers me up so much and I really have been needing a good cheering up.

What have your plans been like for this glorious weekend?
