My (Past Two) Week(s) According to Instagram

Be afraid, be very afraid.  This is a heavy picture loaded entry (over 100!) thanks to missing last Sunday's Instagram post and the large volume of photos from WWII Weekend.  I won't go into detail with what happened at the event in this post.  I'll save it for the individual posts for each day.

Now that we've got that out of the way, I've had a few very eventful, full weeks.  At least busier than I'm used to being lately.  As you all know, unless you've been MIA from the blog (like me, sorry!), last weekend was the big WWII event at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, PA.  I met a very special fella there who I spent some of the week with.

Then on Tuesday I got all four of my wisdom teeth extracted.  No fun, let me tell you, but it could have been a lot worse.  Thankfully I didn't puff up too much and I suppose the pain could have been worse.  It was mostly general discomfort and not being able to sleep correctly.

Wednesday I went to a funeral to support someone very special to me.  It wasn't easy dealing with the pain and everything not even 24 hours post-surgery, but I really wanted to be there for them.

112. Happy Father's Day!

Thursday was a day of much needed rest with the ice pack on my face most of the day to help ease the pain.  Friday I spent the day with my new fella.  Even though we had kissed and everything in the photoshoot and went out with a group afterwards, this was our official "first date".  We went to Lititz for their Second Friday because the one shoppe owner told me they were having some swing dance event.  That turned into a bust as they only played one song whilst we were there.  But we still had a nice time in each others company walking around the town and peeking in the shoppes.

Saturday we spent the day together again, this time up towards where he lives.  We drove into Philadelphia and he showed me around a bit.  I haven't been in the city for quite some time and since he frequents there often, it was lovely to stroll the streets arm in arm.  We got to explore the USS Olympia which was constructed in 1891.  It was fun to get to see the inside and how beautiful everything still was.  He then took me to a speakeasy for a drink.  It was really neat in there and it fit with our 20s apparel perfectly.

Despite the ups and downs and the craziness of the past two weeks, I wouldn't change a thing because it lead me to where I am now.

How have you all been?  Done anything exciting?

My Week According to Instagram

This week started off fine, in the middle it went awful, and it's ending on a slightly better note.  I won't go into the bad stuff.  Those who know me personally, know what I'm referring to.  Yesterday I finally got together with my best friend whom I hadn't seen in awhile.  Ever since she moved away a bit, it's been harder for us to see each other.  That last time I saw her was April so it was a really nice ending.

1. Cuddling with my baby.
2. Don't we all! A Christmas magnet that came on a CD of old Christmas music.
3. The tree I put up and decorated at work.
4. Snow in the forecast!

5. Snow! And on the day I put up my Christmas decorations.
6. Smudger's not that jolly in his Elf outfit.
7. I wish I could believe you, Jane.
8. Dolled up for a work meeting.

9. Pretty in pink and paging Mad Men.
10. I can relate to Jessica.
11-12. Good hair day on the way to work and at home.

13-14. What I wore out shopping with my friend.

Today I'll be spending the day with my mum.  We're going to be making Chicken Cordon Bleu for dinner!  I'm so excited since I've been craving this for months.  Are you guys getting prepared for Chrismas?

My Week According to Instagram

So another week has passed...
This week hasn't been the easiest of weeks for me, as you may be able to tell by the single update I made.  On top of not feeling well, I also got injured at work on Thursday.  As I may have mentioned, I work as a Patient Care Assistant (or PCA) at a hospital on the medical surgical floor.  That job in and of itself is stressful enough at times.

But then on Thursday a patient fell and landed on top of me, making me fall in the process.  I landed on the feet of the IV pole, against a chair, and against the corner of the cabinets.  Not very comfortable.  I now have a strained back, banged up ankle, and various bruises all over my body including a horrible one on my bum and a nasty one on my hip.  So suffice to say, I've been trying to take it easy the rest of the week.

 1. Watching the Notorious Bettie Page
2. Girl crushing on the lovely Christina Hendricks
3. Cuddling with my dear Smudger
4. My tickets for Celtic Thunder came in the post!

5. My dream man, Robert Taylor-they don't make them like that anymore
6. Getting excited for the new series of The Walking Dead in October
7. Watching High Society with Frank Sinatra, Grace Kelly, and Bing Crosby
8. Scratched up by a volatile patient

 9. Had a romantic dream about Mike Wolfe (American Pickers) and Jonathan Scott (Property Brothers)
10. The nasty bruise on my hip from falling-I'll spare you the one on my bum
11. Dreaming of the 40's
12. All out 1940's mood

 13. This completely opened my eyes, it was quite fascinating
14. Tucker begging for a tummy scratch
15. Today's outfit
16. I love this skirt

I almost got rid of that green top because I haven't worn it in years.  I'm so glad I didn't because it looks great with a skirt and has a certain vintage vibe to it.  How has your week been?  Hopefully better than mine...

Travel Diary: Popham Beach

Popham Beach in Phippsburg, Maine is such a stunning place to visit.  You should always go when it's low tide, because the water goes out so far that you can walk out onto the sand banks.  There are sand dollars there to hunt, which is fun.  You can also climb the rocks and hills when the water is out.  When the tide starts to make its way back in, it creates these little ponds of water and it's just the neatest experience.

This was what I wore to the beach, minus the jumper.  It was simple, easy to take off, and still pretty.

 Outfit Details:
swimsuit, top, skirt {thrifted}
jumper {target}
sandals {payless}
bracelet {avon, gift}
earrings {claire's}

 Any great beaches that you like to go to during the summer?

Coming Into My Own

I feel so at home in vintage or vintage-inspired clothing.  I, like most people, went through various personal styles whilst growing up...several of them which I would like to forget, but are unfortunately immortalized in photographs and high school yearbooks.  But now that I'm in my mid-20s, I am really starting to come into my own and I feel as if I am finding my true self.

I've always been an old-fashioned girl when it came to life, so it's rather fitting that my wardrobe reflects my personality.  I'm often told that I look like various old Hollywood stars like Rita Hayworth and Katherine Hepburn.  To me, those are the greatest compliments.  Those women were glamorous and such great beauties.  I really enjoy when people recognize and compliment my love for vintage fashion.  They tell me it looks like I stepped out of time.  But I don't feel as if I am ever wearing a costume.  It all just feels very natural and normal for me.

 Outfit Details:
vintage dress, belt, sunnies, vintage bracelet {thrifted}
wedge sandals {payless}
vintage ring {great-grandmother's engagement ring from 1920}

I fell in love with this dress the moment I saw it.  I was even more excited when I saw that it was actually my size.  Most of the vintage dresses I find are too big for me- but I just belt them and then they usually look great.  This is the perfect summer dress.  It's very lightweight (though I had to wear a slip underneath) and the pastel colors are a lovely touch for a day out in the sun.  It just makes me want to frolic in a field.
