Finally Fall

Woohoo!  We are finally getting to autumn weather on the blog!  It is my good intention to try to post more often so I can get up to date and post outfits that I at least wore within the past week or so.  The biggest thing holding me back is editing the photos.  It's such a lengthy process and I have to do it on my PC, since the configuration of my laptop screen doesn't work well with the editor I use.

The idea of taking photos with Tucker was a good one in idea form, but didn't work out quite as planned when put into practice.  He didn't want to stay still long enough for photos.  He ended up pulling me quite often with his bulky strength, which induced quite a few funny faces from me.  I don't think I'll be posing with him in this manner again any time soon.

vintage hat, vintage blouse, vintage skirt, belt, handbag {thrifted}

vintage brooch, vintage rings {paternal grandmother}
bracelets {eBay, and random shop}

This, I must say, is one of my favourite outfits I've worn on the blog, to date.  It's not any particular piece, but more so the combination of the whole.  I really love the delicate lace collar of the top.  I haven't worn it again since, but I'm definitely going to have to.  I'm finding it rather difficult to wear skirts and dresses in these cold months.  It can be such a hassle sometimes.

Do any of you have issues dressing up when it's cold out?

My Week According to Instagram

Nothing too exciting happened the first several days of the week.  I worked Monday through Thursday so those days didn't consist of much.  Friday I had off and spent a lovely day with my mum.

We spent the day thrifting at a few different shops.  I didn't get my usual load of bounty, but I did get a few nice pieces.  The most exciting thing is a stunning vintage 1940s coat that my mum got me for Christmas.  She wasn't going to show me at first, but she wanted to make sure it fit.  I can't wait to get it!  It's so lovely!

We had lunch at the little diner in my town that we also wanted to check out.  They had the cutest Victorian era reproduction Coca-Cola signs hanging around.  The food was so delicious too.

We ended up having to go grocery shopping then.  Crazy!  I really had to go no matter what, but it was still crazy.  We are supposed to be getting a really bad storm here in the next few days so people were going into survivor mode.  I've heard insane reports about how generators are sold out everywhere and Walmart no longer has any water!  I guess they're expecting it to be really bad.  It's rather scary...  Hopefully it won't be quite as bad as they are saying it to be.

I'm excited to have off tomorrow.  It's going to be horrible out, so it's the perfect day to lay on the couch and try to finish watching my list of Halloween movies with a cup of hot mint chocolate.  Hopefully the power stays on so I can achieve that.  And also hopefully it won't be so terrible tonight at work that they make me stay the night.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Forties Fever

I almost always dress vintage on my days off.  But the day I wore this outfit, for some reason, I felt like going completely all out.  I put the hat on; I did a back roll and pin curls in my hair; I wore gloves; I had on thigh high back seam stockings and a garter belt; I wore a vintage slip underneath the dress...  Like I said, all out.  I don't know what it was about that day, but the urge just came over me.

vintage jewelry {my grandmother's}
back seam thigh high stockings {ebay}

I think now that we are transitioning into cooler days here in Pennsylvania, that I might go all out a bit more just with the layering.  I'm going to be wearing stockings and hats more.  Then once it becomes even cooler, I'll break out the gloves.  I only have a few pairs of vintage gloves that are thick enough for the colder weather; the rest are just the thinner ones that won't help keep out the bite of coldness.  I must acquire a few more pairs for the Winter months ahead.

I did finally purchase three pairs of thicker stockings as well: heather grey, navy, and black.  The navy and black are even the cable knit sweater kind- exactly what I wanted!  Now I just want to find an oatmeal colour and I think I'll be set for the sweater kind.  But I do also want to get opaque tights in various bright colours; the only pair I have now is a sort of rust colour which is perfect for Autumn.

What are staple pieces that you must have for your Fall and Winter wardrobes?

Sucker for Seersucker

Wow, it seems as if I took these photos years ago.  It's hard to think of Summer in full bloom when we are making our way into Fall.  I really am so behind on posting photos, that it's not even remotely funny.  I hate that I have all of these photos yet I have nothing to say about them in regards to what happened to me around the time I took them.

In case you didn't read yesterday's post, I got really sick last week and I just couldn't be bothered to get on the computer and post.  This past week would have been perfect to catch up on blogging, but I spent most of my week laying horizontal with my remote stuck in my hand.

Etienne Aigner clutch, Claddagh ring, Avon bracelet {gifted}

There's something I especially love about this outfit.  I don't think it's any one certain piece, but more so a combination of it all.  The whole look just screams warm weather and sunshine.  It's comforting to look back on it, even though I'm wrapped up in a blanket whilst typing this, and remember that it will be warm again soon enough.  I am very excited about the cold weather, though not right at this moment since getting sick comes with this time of year.  But I am happy about bringing out the knit stockings, hats, and gloves.

My Week According to Instagram

Wow, time flies...  So this past week was the Emmy's.  I didn't get to watch it since I had to work, but that didn't stop me from admiring the fashion!  There were some really stunning dresses there, below I document some of my favourites.

It was a bit of another tough week.  Yesterday was a week since we had to put Harley down.  Then I found out my cat, Midnight, has cancer.  The 26th was the 21st anniversary of my grandmother passing.  I went to visit her on Friday when I had off which was very emotional, but I felt like I needed to do that.

I do have some things to look forward to this coming week.  I'm taking a trip to NYC tomorrow.  Then, this weekend I have some family coming down from Maine for a visit.  We will be going to the Renaissance Faire around here.  It's really swell.  Sort of raunchy, lude humor, but still a blast.
