My (Past Three) Week(s) According to Instagram

I know, I know...  I was doing so good for a week there with blogging and then I let it all go to pot again.

My weeks and weekends have been much busier of late.  I ended up getting a temp job so now my weekdays are filled with work.  Since my back still hurts and I'm not used to waking up so early yet, it's taken awhile for me to adjust.  I haven't been posting as many Instagram daily outfits either because it's rather dirty where I'm working and I don't want my pretty vintage items to get grease stains and the like on them.

My weekends have been filled with either reenactments, hanging out with friends, or both.  The past two weekends I went to two different reenactments.  One at Joanna Furnace and one at Eckley's Miners' Village.  They both had dances in the evening which were great fun.  I still have no idea what I'm doing, but if I have a strong lead, I can go with the flow rather well.

1. My outfit two Sundays ago.
2. First time wearing this vintage dress and hat.
3. No outfit photoshoots lately due to the heat, but mum took a quick snap.
4. Beat the heat with a Mike's hard lemonade at a baseball game.

5. TARDIS pyjamas! Need I say more?
6. Two Mondays ago's outfit. Another new (to me) vintage dress.
7. First time wearing this hat as well.
8. Out to the cinema to see This Is the End. I love this 50s frock.

9. Too hot to care; thus entered the mint sailor shorts.
10. My new favourite cocktail at Applebees: frozen strawberry lemonade with rum.
11. Beautiful Benedict celebrated his 37th birthday on 19 July.
12. No holiday for me this year. But hopefully a beach trip to do a vintage swimsuit shoot at least...

13. Randomly dreamed of Jonathan Scott from Property Brothers.
14. I certainly feel like a fool a lot of the time.
15-16. Outfit for WWII reenactment at Joanna Furnace.

17. A dreamy soldier.
18. I ended up buying a new (to me) vintage dress and changing into it.
19. And then I ended up ripping it whilst swing dancing later on.
20. A girl and her gun.

21. Two vintage baby dresses I couldn't pass up from Joanna Furnace.
22. Last Sunday's easy breezy outfit.
23. A woman from the Joanna Furnace event gave me these custom made 1940s crocodile shoes!
24. Picked some Queen Anne's lace that I love.

25. On the bridge in Mt. Gretna.
26. Joanna Furnace, Mike's, Willow, and Reading WWII Weekend.
27. Smudger loves to play with soda bottles.
28. Johnny Galecki- I can't get enough of The Big Bang Theory.

29. Saturday's outfit for another WWII reenactment at Eckley's Miners' Village.
30. Gorgeous wrought iron bench outside the Sharpe House.
31-32. At the Sharpe House.

33-34. Inside the Sharpe House.
35. A tank outside of where the USO dance was held.
36. Swinging the night away.

37-38. One does not simply come across Captain America and Wolverine masks without putting them on.
39. Smudger from two weeks old to three years old.
40. Took Smudger to get ice cream on his birthday.

41. One of my favourite photos from Reading's WWII Weekend.
42. I can't wait to swing dance again. I miss it.
43-44. Friday's outfit to see Swing Fever play.

45. Behind on responding to my penpals.
46. Saturday's 50s outfit to hear Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods play.

This weekend I had more events going on.  Friday evening the band Swing Fever played a concert in the park which I attended.  I am addicted to hunting down all the local swing dance events.  I was a bit disappointed that no one was dancing, so I left after the first set.  It was mostly older people sitting around in their lawn chairs.  Not what I wanted.

Then come Saturday, I went to the Lebanon Fair.  My friend's cousin's band Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods were performing 50s/60s rock and roll there.  Today has been a day of rest for me.  I'm not used to being this active plus working a job on top of it, all with stupid back pain/headaches to throw a wrench in the situation.

I'll try once again to be more proactive with this.  Hopefully once my body becomes more accustomed to the new hours and all I can get on a better schedule.  I hope you've all been doing well!

My (Past Two) Week(s) According to Instagram

Be afraid, be very afraid.  This is a heavy picture loaded entry (over 100!) thanks to missing last Sunday's Instagram post and the large volume of photos from WWII Weekend.  I won't go into detail with what happened at the event in this post.  I'll save it for the individual posts for each day.

Now that we've got that out of the way, I've had a few very eventful, full weeks.  At least busier than I'm used to being lately.  As you all know, unless you've been MIA from the blog (like me, sorry!), last weekend was the big WWII event at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, PA.  I met a very special fella there who I spent some of the week with.

Then on Tuesday I got all four of my wisdom teeth extracted.  No fun, let me tell you, but it could have been a lot worse.  Thankfully I didn't puff up too much and I suppose the pain could have been worse.  It was mostly general discomfort and not being able to sleep correctly.

Wednesday I went to a funeral to support someone very special to me.  It wasn't easy dealing with the pain and everything not even 24 hours post-surgery, but I really wanted to be there for them.

1-4. My outfit two Sunday's ago...or three if you count today.

5. "If the TARDIS is infinite with infinite rooms then maybe we're all in the TARDIS and don't even know it." "Mother of God!" "Maybe our entire universe is one room in the TARDIS." Mind = blown.

19. Packing my bag for WWII on Friday.
20. Friday's outfit for the event.

21. A close up of my hair before the wind and rain ruined it.
22. And of course, backseam stockings were necessary.
23-24. The only good thing about Friday (besides spending the day with my neighbour) was the access to the planes and cars since there weren't many people at the event that day.

25. Staying dry in a Jeep.
26. A girl can never have too many choices...
27. In the Home Front house.
28. Gorgeous Waterfall vanity.

111. Lovely couple parting ways at Penn Station.
112. Happy Father's Day!

Thursday was a day of much needed rest with the ice pack on my face most of the day to help ease the pain.  Friday I spent the day with my new fella.  Even though we had kissed and everything in the photoshoot and went out with a group afterwards, this was our official "first date".  We went to Lititz for their Second Friday because the one shoppe owner told me they were having some swing dance event.  That turned into a bust as they only played one song whilst we were there.  But we still had a nice time in each others company walking around the town and peeking in the shoppes.

Saturday we spent the day together again, this time up towards where he lives.  We drove into Philadelphia and he showed me around a bit.  I haven't been in the city for quite some time and since he frequents there often, it was lovely to stroll the streets arm in arm.  We got to explore the USS Olympia which was constructed in 1891.  It was fun to get to see the inside and how beautiful everything still was.  He then took me to a speakeasy for a drink.  It was really neat in there and it fit with our 20s apparel perfectly.

Despite the ups and downs and the craziness of the past two weeks, I wouldn't change a thing because it lead me to where I am now.

How have you all been?  Done anything exciting?

My Week According to Instagram

Finally the weather is starting to come back to spring temperatures!  All week it's been a bit cooler so I didn't get to take any outfit photos.  Yesterday was really nice so I went to my usual spot and took some photos by the most beautiful cherry blossom tree.  It was the perfect backdrop for spring photos.  Plus it smelled really nice.  I just had to be mindful of the bees flitting around.

This week has ended with my mood being inspired by the 1920s.  I re-watched Midnight in Paris so I could see Tom Hiddleston as F. Scott Fitzgerald.  That film is just so incredible and I can really relate to the protagonists desire to be transported to the past.  Between that and the adverts I keep seeing for The Great Gatsby I've been going back a couple decades more than I normally do.

I was inspired and made two flapper-esque headbands.  I am absolutely going to dress up and go see Gatsby, even if no one else will dress up with me!  Though it would be preferable to have a few dapper people with.  I do love the twenties but only really have a few accessories from that time period including a hat and three handbags.  It would be really swell to find some pieces that if not actually that old, at least hold resemblance to that style of dress.

1-4. Last Sunday's outfit.

5-6. First time taking photos on train tracks.
7. Hats from another lady at church!
8. Hello, handsome...

14. Roller set and my grandma Charlotte's shirt.
15. Doctor Who + Sherlock = amazing fandom mashup.
16. These ladies are so inspiring!

17. The amazing Ella Fitzgerald.
18. Austen mood.
19. I love the Fitzgeralds in Midnight in Paris.
20. Getting excited for The Great Gatsby!

21-22. 1920s fever hit and I made two headbands inspired by Midnight in Paris/Gatsby.
23-24. Yesterday's nautical/patriotic themed outfit.

25-26. Gorgeous cherry blossom tree where I took outfit photos.
27. And another beautiful flowering tree.
28. I love this tree as a backdrop!

29. I can't wait to post these on the blog.
30. Black and white.

Inspiration has also struck in another way, though still keeping the roaring twenties in mind.  I think this spring/summer I'd really like to try to throw some themed picnics/afternoon parties.  I'm the only vintage lover/dresser amongst my mates but I think they'd still enjoy it.  I would do different things like the 20s and have food and beverages that were all the rage during that time.  Play music from that era.  Maybe even find some fun little games that were popular then.  The same for the 40s or other times like that.  We could even have an impromptu photoshoot or something!

So we will see...I really hope to bring that idea to fruition in the future.  What's been inspiring you lately?
